DFT Elevator Consulting provides independent elevator consulting and technical advisory services to building owners, HOAs, property managers, attorneys, and facility operators throughout California.

Founded by Dave Thomas, DFT Elevator Consulting is backed by decades of hands-on experience in the construction and elevator industry. Dave is an active California Certified Conveyance Mechanic (CCCM), Licensed General Contractor, and Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI) who currently oversees elevator installations, modernization projects, maintenance audits, and complex troubleshooting operations.

His field experience extends across the entire lifecycle of vertical transportation systems—from new high-rise construction exceeding 50 stops to legacy hydraulic and traction modernizations. Having built elevator systems from the hoistway pit to the machine room penthouse, he understands what goes into every phase: structural coordination, controllers and variable frequency drives, code compliance, commissioning, and long-term maintainability.

Unlike equipment manufacturers or maintenance contractors whose priority is billing labor and parts, DFT Elevator Consulting serves strictly as your independent advocate.
